What it means to get federated — and why it matters
Federating means officially registering your Jiu-Jitsu graduation with BJJLF. In practice, this means transforming something that today only your instructor and academy know — your belt, your degrees, your history — into a public, verifiable and permanent record.

Your belt stops being "your instructor's word" and becomes a certificate issued by a federation, with date, graduation and recorded history.

Why this federation
A federation of real lineage
Having a federation is easy; having the authority to graduate is another thing. The BJJLF was founded by Master Sergio Malibu, coral belt 8th degree formed by Rickson Gracie — a direct lineage that traces back to the heart of the Gracie family and the origin of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Alongside him, a council of highly graduated masters — other red and white belts and coral belts — provides technical and moral support for each certificate issued. When you federate here, your belt is not validated by just any name: it is recognized by a federation with true roots in the history of the art.
The step-by-step, from registration to live certificate
Registration

Provide your current belt, the date you were promoted to it, and the name of your instructor or master — this is the information the federation reviews.
Pagamento do certificado

How much does it cost to federate

Quanto custa se federar?
O custo depende da sua faixa: o certificado de graduação varia de R$ 150,00 (faixas Kids) até R$ 390,00 (faixa Preta). A carteirinha é opcional e custa R$ 50,00 à parte. Veja a tabela completa nesta página.
Preciso comprovar minha graduação?
Sim. No cadastro você informa a faixa atual, a data em que foi graduado nela e o nome do professor ou mestre responsável — são esses dados que a federação analisa antes de aprovar o certificado. Graus podem ser reconhecidos por tempo de faixa, sem burocracia extra.
Is the membership card mandatory?
No. The membership card is an optional upsell — the graduation certificate is the federation’s primary document and already verifies your public profile.
Quanto tempo leva a aprovação?
After payment for the certificate, your request enters review by the federation team. Once approved, your public profile and certificate go live automatically.
Does the certificate have legal validity/QR code?
The certificate is issued with a validation QR code linking to your public profile — anyone can verify your graduation and federation status at any time.
