Ankalaev Answers Poatan's Taunt, Demands Trilogy Fight in UFC — Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation: Even after getting back on the winning track at UFC Abu Dhabi last Saturday (25), Magomed Ankalaev kept his eyes on his biggest rival in the light heavyweight division (93 kg). During the post-fight press conference, the Russian again needled Alex Pereira and expressed the desire to hold a third matchup between them to break the tie in their rivalry.

The statement from the former champion came in response to a recent post by 'Poatan' on social media. Aware of the Brazilian's jabs, Ankalaev guaranteed he's ready for the "tiebreaker" and projected the organization's own interest in the matchup.

"There's a guy out there who calls himself 'The Champ'. He posted a picture of me and wrote something like, 'You still alive?' If he wants to fight me, I'm sure the UFC would be more than happy to make it happen," he declared.

Tied Record

The history between the two athletes shows total balance: Ankalaev and Poatan have squared off twice inside the Ultimate octagon, with one victory for each side. The possibility of a third chapter, however, runs into recent plans of the São Paulo striker.

Despite the Russian's persistence and mutual provocations that stir up the light heavyweight division, Poatan has already signaled publicly his interest in staying at heavyweight. Even after the loss to Ciryl Gane at the historic UFC Casa Branca card, the Brazilian has signaled that he intends to pursue an unprecedented third championship.
