I've seen some illegal scams lost over the years, some of them serious enough to cause damage, and I'm not sure I'd rank Alex Pereira vs. Ciryl Gane in my Top 5. But then again, I'm not at home asking “What if?” like Pereira, who failed to capture the UFC interim heavyweight title at the White House last month in Washington, DC.

It seems that blows to the back of the head are the new problem in the sport.

Pereira recently commented on the UFC's release of unrelated middleweight Michel Pereira, who like his Brazilian counterpart, had a problem with referee Herb Dean's handling of the illegal strikes in his UFC Baku loss to Shara Bullet on June 27 in Azerbaijan.

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">"They could have dispatched this guy earlier, and maybe it would have been acceptable," Pereira wrote on Instagram. “But paying such a high price because of an arbitration error is impossible to accept! The UFC has done, and continues to do, everything I ask within the organization's reach. But it's sad to see that and not be upset.”
