Jungle Fight 153: Itu edition has three belt contests this Saturday — Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation

Jiu-Jitsu Federation: If Itu is known for exaggerations and giant sized monuments, Jungle Fight decided to get in the mood. The 153rd edition of the largest MMA event in Latin America will be held this Saturday (25), at the Prudente de Moraes Municipal Gymnasium, and arrives in the city with a card that runs away from the ordinary. Instead of a single title match, there will be three belts at stake. Sportv and Combate broadcast the event live throughout Brazil from 8 pm.

All athletes scheduled for Jungle Fight 153 confirmed their presence at the event by beating the weight of their respective categories during the official weigh-in held on Friday. Admission will be free with the donation of 1 kg of non-perishable food. The food collected will be destined to the Social Solidarity Fund, a program developed by the Municipality of Itu that helps families in a situation of social vulnerability.

In the main fight, João Dantas makes his first defense of the middleweight belt, against Oton Jasse from Rio de Janeiro. Dantas arrives with eight victories in ten professional fights and has the power to knock out one of his main characteristics. On the other side will be one of the greatest specialists in MMA finishing. Jasse won 22 of the 33 fights of his career, 20 by submission, most with his dreaded triangle of hand.

The bantamweight belt will also be up for grabs in an undefeated showdown. Tiago Pereira puts the title at stake for the fourth time and tries to expand the sequence that made him the most dominant champion in the category. Based in Rio de Janeiro, Maranhão, he has ten victories in ten presentations, seven of them by the fast track, a performance that places him, for many MMA analysts, as the main bantamweight in the world today. In front will be the grappler Jonathan Frazão, the "Astro Boy", an Amazonian based in Rio de Janeiro, who also maintains a perfect cartel, with six wins in six fights.

The first belt of the night will define the new flyweight champion. Former title holder and finalist of the first Fight of the Million, Brena Cardozo tries to recover the position against the also from Rio de Janeiro Amanda Vargas. While Brena has 11 wins in 17 professional matches, Amanda seeks to win the belt of organization packed with five wins in nine fights.

The program in Itu began on Friday with the Jungle Qualifiers, a selection created to reveal new MMA talent. Fighters from Itu and cities in the region participated in the contests, and the athletes who stood out the most were hired to integrate future editions of the event.

Jungle Fight returns to Itu for the fifth time. The last edition held in the city took place in 2015, and the return, according to President Wallid Ismail, it represents the continuity of a partnership built over many years.

“Going back to Itu is always a cause for joy. It is a city that is part of the history of Jungle Fight and that has always welcomed us with open arms. In addition to showing the beauties and hospitality of Itu to all of Brazil, we will have another opportunity to show the strength of Brazilian MMA. I have a friendship for many years with Mayor Herculano Passos, one of the great ambassadors of Jungle Fight and someone who believes in sport as a tool for social inclusion. I'm sure we'll make a giant Jungle, the size of Itu's tradition.”

Those who are unable to enter the gym can also follow the schedule. The organization will set up a Fun Fest in front of the Prudente de Moraes Municipal Gymnasium, with a big screen for live broadcasting of the fights. Mayor of Itu, Herculano Passos highlighted the long-standing relationship with Wallid Ismail and the impact that Jungle Fight generates inside and outside the sport.

The event opens doors, creates opportunities and changes the lives of many young people who find a new path in sport.
